I really need some help...I don't need a lecture or anything like that.

My memory is getting really bad. I can't remember to do everything that should come so easily like remembering that I'm cooking, what someone just asked me, etc. Nothing makes sense anymore.

Anyways...how do you deal with your memory loss (no, I'm not talking about normal forgetfulness)?

Giving you my support. The quest for truth is a scary uncertain road, winding long and hard. ultimately it ends with just alone in front of a mirror... facing the truth within. best of luck

I have always had a bad memory even in elementary school where the teachers made me carry around a little notebook and write down everything that I had to do and then they would put their initials by each thing that I did so I would know what I had left to do. Ever since I have carried a notebook and calendar with me making notes throughout the day to myself on things that I had to do right down to where I was putting my keys. That way all I have to do is open my notebook and see whats what.

Lexi,

My Head Trauma made my memory much worse than it was before. Get a timer and always put turn it on when you cook. Make it go off every 5 to 10 minutes so you won't burn anything. Get a little one and carry it in your pocket.

Every night try to write a list of what you have to do the next day. If you still forget things, put post it notes on your bathroom mirror. If you're afraid you'll forget to take something with you when you leave, place it in front of the door where you'll have to pick it up or trip on it.

If you need to put something in the mail, tape it to the door at eye level so you will see it before you open the door. Tape a list of errands to your purse so you'll see it. Keep post it notes in the car so you can leave a post it note on your steering wheel.

Get a curly key chain to wear on your wrist. Make sure you carry your keys on your wrist and make one and only one place to put your keys each day.

If you take meds, check around and see if any of the pharmacies will pack your meds in blister packs. My pharmacy packs mine in blister packs and I have a pack for morning, lunch and night. Morning is in a yellow pack, lunch is white and night is blue. All I have to do is pick up the pack, check the date and punch out my meds. That alone has helped me so much.

I hope this helps you. I know what it's like to be somewhere and not remember how to get home.

Hugs,

Jan
