I did a search through the forum but didn't come up with a lot - is it known by another name also?

I have had Prozac which sucked at 40mg cos it upset my stomach a lot, but it doesn't do much at 20mg, so just got this one.

I don't really know what to expect - it's only the second thing I've been on (prozac was about six months).

Anything anyone can tell me much appreciated, I don't know anyone else who is taking it and have just been reading up on the net Anyone taking Citalopram/Cipramil/Celapram?

Cipramil is common here I think. (In USA) and if you google it you will find ppl who like it better than prozac, if that matters to you.

Welcome to psychcentral. Be sure and bookmark/favorites this place as it's the best support site on the web!

i used it a whilst ago... didnt get any sickly effects or owt as you refer to from prozac, but did find myself constantly drained, no motivation, no energy or owt. that was pretty much all it got on me, i stopped after several months of 40mg/day cos i was sick of feeling tired. hope that helps

Citalopram is marketed as Celexa in North America. The s-enantiomer (escitalopram) is marketed as Lexapro. Maybe those will help you find preivous posts?

Hello,

I use Cipralex (escitalopram), that is a new version of Cipramil (citalopram). Its practially the same medicine, just that they have "narrowed" the Cipralex a bit, so it contains more of the efficient parts of the medicine. I now use 10mg, for a while I had to swap to Cipramil, and then I got 40mg Cipramil instead of the 10mg Cipralex.

We have lots of depression and bipolarity in the family, and I have had series of major depression throughout my life. The medicine has taken away the worst bits, so my "downs" are not so deep anymore. It was espescially effective for me the first 2-3 months, after that it has mainly made me a bit flat, which I don't enjoy too much. I'll see what I do about it when my life has settled a bit more.

I think the effect of any anti depressives can vary greatly from person to person, and there is no recipe for how it will affect you... we are a bit of a mass of guinea pigs for the medical industry I'm afraid.

DRUNKSUNFLOWER: I'm taking 20 mg Lexapro and have done so for a long time. It works very well for me, except for the tiredness. Before that I took 60 mg Celexa for a long time, and it worked well also. (the switch was only for insurance reasons)

There were some nightmares and insomnia for a few weeks, when I first started the drug. However, those side-effects were temporary.

Occasionally I want to throw away all medications and just be me. But then I remember how I was without the AD, and I'm glad I finally found one that works.

Adieu

I was on the Celexa for only a short time because I could not tolerate the side effects, even on the smallest dose.

I got off it 6 weeks later.

Wish I had something postive to write about this, but I can't because it sucked for me... haha.

But I know people who have or are on it and it's doing wonders for them.
