I've taken this on and off for about a year and a half.
Most of the time it helps when I remember to take it. Anyone else tried it? Or know if this could be harmful? |

You shouldn't be taking herbal stuff if you're on prescription psych meds. It can interfere.

I'd check with a dr. or pharmacist -- even my primary care doc tells me to stay away from the herbal stuff because of my psych meds. Better safe than sorry.

Hi bebe,
My pdoc was the one that put me on SAM-e since absolutely no anti-depressants worked. The only thing I was on along with is was Valium for my anxiety. I took it for over a year with no results that I could feel. At least with SAM-e, I didn't have any side effects either, but no effect in how I felt either. Herbal/natural meds have had the least bad effects of everything for me, but never had a positive effect either. At least I wasn't suicidal at the time since status quo in that state wouldn't have been good either.

When I was consistent on taking it this past year it did a lot for me. I just need to keep taking it.

I do not know much about this, but I do know that people who are bipolar are advised not to use this, can trigger manic episodes.
Frankly, I do not think much of many of the herbals health stores are robbing consumers of their money, I once was a health food store junky, wasted loads of money on all the "cure alls" they advertise. I do use some of health food store supplements, and do not discourage the use of supplements, but it is always wise to check with a medical professional first. I think the best thing a person can do is ask a professional about the validity of a product, cause many of the "health products" shops employ many people that lack the knowledge of supplements and just repeat what their supervisor's drum in their heads, just to make a sale. Flipside, there are good health stores, their are knowledgable employees, just be cautious of those that frown at traditional medicine, I know a man that had high blood pressure, his wife worked for a health food store chain, and told him to take garlic pills, well, this man obviously needed "real" medication, he had a mini stroke and then required a quadruple by pass. Like I tell everyone, read up, ask your docs, and even a pharmacist about any prescription meds., supplements, or OTC drugs, before taking anything that is new to you. I wish y'all lots of luck and good health ![]() DE
