My husband just started taking (about a week and a half ago) Ultram (Tramadol) 50 mg. 3 times a day for hand pain. She (our family doc)is also treating him for depression with Zoloft 50 mg. 1X day. Our pharmacist refused to give the meds to me because it was afterhours at the doc's office and she was concerned about the interactions between the two meds. My doc finally got it straightened out (been our doc for a longgg time) and we got the meds. He is being treated with tramadol for chronic pain due to a work injury that is 5 years old, the depression is also from that. I'm wondering has anyone had any experience with this combination or with these two drugs seperately? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Kimberly.

I was taking Ultram for a knee injury for awhile. I was told that it was good because it was not a benzo and was not addictive. I loved the medicine and did not have any problems with it even when I was taking it with Prozac.

Thanks Jessica! I'm glad to hear about the less addictive qualities of this med. That's what the major problem is with treating chronic pain, I would rather avoid the narcotics as long as we can. Don't need an addiction on top of everything else. Ultram and Zoloft together?

Take Care (((Hugs)))

Kim!
The pharmacist was right!!!! The combination can be life threating! This I know b/c I spent 3 days in ICU. The strange thing is it tends to take some time for the reaction to happen 3 months for me.
Look up Seritonin Crisis and be careful!
