How are you now, the1forgotten?
I'm sorry it didn't work out for you this time. When I kept wanting to stop smoking, I decided to call every time I tried but didn't succeed as "practice". Eventually, I guess I had enough practice, because then it stuck and I no longer smoke. So, you are practicing. ![]() No reason not to try again, if that is what you want to do. Do you wish to try again? Therapy can be so hard at first, can feel so uncomfortable. I barely talked for 9 months. Mostly I cried or was extremely uncomfortable. The only thing that got me through those times was remembering that T said to "Trust the process." |

I don't know if I'm willing to try again. I am pretty negative about the whole thing. I feel like my T wouldn't be able to understand what I'm saying. She basically told me I was wasting her time if I was going to talk about stuff and she said that after like the 4th session. So I don't know.

I'm sorry this happened. It must have felt awful to be pressured like that when you already felt the pressure of the difficulty talking. That T just wasn't a good fit for you. You need someone who is different than that T. Someone who is more patient and who doesn't make you feel like you have to 'perform' by being a certain way.
There are many kinds of therapists and therapies out there, and I'm sure there is a therapist who would love to work with you. Here on PC is some information about types of psychotherapy (left side of page): http://psychcentral.com/psychotherapy/ And here is a site that helped me decide what kind of therapy and therapist I wanted to seek out: www.guidetopsychology.com. Do this for you, so you can feel better. Cast aside the T who didn't help and continue your search for a T who will be helpful. This is part of the process and you can do this ![]() |
