My T wears very fashionable clothing. It's gorgeous. I often comment on her shoes, clothes, bag. I love the way she dresses. It's very feminine too, but very classy.

There is another T in my T's office who was wearing this leopard print top/vest combo thingy one day. I made a smarta** comment about it ("Wow, who knew it was leopard print shirt day!") to my T as soon as he closed the door, and he laughed really hard. I probably would have been a little nicer, but she is always lunging out of doorways (the total office space is one hallway with 6 doors...I call her the "door-darter"), and she has literally almost smacked into me about 5 times. My T said once that I should throw an elbow her way, lol.
Thanks for this!

I think this is considered quite "mod" and fashionable now. My teenage daughter is into those patterned tights, and has a pair with gigantic roses on them. It seems to work for her--she is 16. How old is your T? She sounds "young at heart" no matter her age.

My T wears khakis/dockers type pants and usually a long sleeved shirt with a collar. I think. I don't notice much. When he is "dressed up" and going to a legal or business meeting, he tends to wear a long sleeve shirt that matches a pullover sweater vest (a la MissC's T?) and a matching tie too. Like they will all be shades of green or purple. Green and purple seem kind of more casual and arty than the typical grey and blue and black of the business world, so I think he is trying to make a statement by wearing those to the meetings, like "hey, I'm the touchy feely guy." I think sometimes my T might wear jeans, but I'm not positive. Occasionally he wears cowboy boots and I like those. Sometimes he wears sandals with socks, LOL. I think he does have normal shoes those days, but switches them off an on with the client. Like if it is a new client, he might wear the shoes, but if it is a longtime client like me, who he is comfortable with, he will just leave the sandals on. In summer, he sometimes wears short sleeve aloha type shirts with pretty loud patterns (but they do not look cheap). A couple of times I have gone to see him on weekends, and he was more casual then--short-sleeved polo shirts and longish khaki hiking shorts, with socks and running shoes. I don't know if that would be common elsewhere, but I live in an extremely casual part of the U.S.

Interestingly, there have been times when my T and I analyzed what each person wore to our legal meetings, and the kind of "message" it sends.

My T showed me his wedding pictures once and he was wearing a dark suit that was rather ill fitting. I just wanted to roll my eyes. Could you not have had a couple of alterations done for your wedding? LOL.

My 2nd T, the old man one, used to wear these expensive sandals. Not only did he wear dress socks that one would think was bad enough, but they were either faded or had a hole in the toe! I thought it was funny.

Shows how little I know about fashion. My T is probably in her early to mid thirties. She usually is wearing stylish clothing. But I still think they looked funny.

This thread is just cracking me up! First, the vagina scarf- I agree that theonly play I can think of that features vaginas is the Vagina Monologue. So funny, wonder if she had a clue as to what her patients might think of the scarf!

And Sunny, I feel like I could have written the post with what your T wears without having met him, cowboy boot days and all. He's a cool dude

I'll add one more thing, I have never commented on any Ts clothing. Ever. I dont know why. Maybe I am afraid I'd be crossing some boundary or something. I see ftt with the same pair of high heel clogs on and I want badly to tell her I love them and have the same pair! At this point Id be really embarrassed to say it since Ive been looking at them for 5 months now

Blue, you should just wear them one day. Maybe she will comment on your clogs! You can be twins. The only time my T has ever commented on anything I wear is my shoes (or jewelry). He is fond of a pair of red Puma atheletic shoes I occasionally wear. And last session, I had worn this white pair of athletic shoes that totally did not go at all with my work clothes. But I have to walk long distances at my job from place to place for meetings and so on, so I usually bring these walking shoes, then change into my "work shoes" when I am done with my long walks for the day. But this day I had forgotten to bring my work shoes and only had these white walking shoes, which looked totally dorky with my clothes. And T chooses to tell me that day that he really likes my shoes.

Then this week she was wearing nylons with large purple flowers on them. I didn't know they made nylons with large purple flowers on them. I had to keep myself from looking at them because I felt like they were going to make me laugh (and didn't want to hurt T's feelings.) Both of these things just seemed out of her norm for clothing. Usually everything is completely professional. And I don't usually pay attention to clothes either.

Has anyone else had a T who has or does wear clothes that just seem slightly weird?
My therapist is always spontaneous. one day she will be in a normal type business suit and the next shes in this tie dyed 1960's outfit. I asked her one time why she wears such strange things sometimes. her exact words were " its a conversation started, ice breaker. Some people have a hard time getting started when they first walk in the door for their therapy session. So I ham it up with clothes and accessories. its hard to be afraid of a therapist when they look like a hippie or they just went shopping at the local recycling bin don't you think?" at that she did a models strut around the room.

maybe your therapist does it for the same reason next time try noticing aloud her odd dress wear and accessories. If I had seen those nylons on my therapist I would have said wow look at you all ready for the miss america contest, you even brought your winners bouquet. thats cool way cool.
Thanks for this!

interesting, my T always (always always!!!!!) wears quiet solid colors, and NO PRINTS. Once I asked her why and she said, so that what she wears will never draw any attention at all.

so I look at her shoes lol
since my eyes are in the neighborhood anyway (that is, fixed on the carpet)

Funny about the sneakers. Maybe he was just trying to soothe poor Sunny who looked like a dork in work clothing and sneakers
That is a good idea! I'll wear the clogs and see if she says anything. She will notice b/c I always take off my shoes and sit cross-legged on the couch so the shoes will be sitting in full view

I thought I was the only one who took off my shoes for T. Though I usually curl up into a ball, not sit cross legged.

Best. Thread. Ever.

My T has good taste -- khakis or black pants with solid long-sleeved shirts. Usually. He's got this one red and black striped shirt that's very slightly shiny, doesn't seem to go with the rest of his clothes or his personality. It's the only one that doesn't seem to "fit."

The best thing in his wardrobe (that I've seen) is this glorious shirt in a deep solid blue, the most incredible shade I've ever seen -- it's somewhere between midnight and royal. He looks like a Spanish prince in that shirt.

He doesn't seem to have a lot of clothes, and I find myself worrying about it. I'm obsessed. He wants me to come in twice a week, and I've thought I would do it on the condition that he takes my second check and buys some more amazing blue shirts. It's definitely his color!

My T needs to get some new socks. They are all faded out from way too much washing. I also get a kick out of seeing which socks he wears with what. Khaki pants - navy socks. Navy pants - black socks. Today he had on dark brown socks with his khakis.

Of course, it's all better than when he went thru a time period where he wore his sneakers with his business attire.

I have wanted to take off my shoes in T but never did! Other people do this? I always want to cross my legs on the couch! Maybe I will do this if I let myself feel more comfortable next time.

What is it about taking off the shoes?! I think we want to feel *that* comfortable, or I think that's what I want, anyway. I slipped my sandal off for about 8 seconds once and having that bare foot there in the room ... that was just too much 'exposure' for me to handle. lol

T wears sandals (we are in the south, we don't wear nylons often at all) and gorgeous open-toed heels so her feet are often kind of 'bare'. I love it on her. On me, not so much.

I was just about to post this same thing! If I could slip off my shoes I could sit with my legs up on the couch, much more comfy. Now that I know other people do it maybe I will be brave enough next time!

this thread is FUNNY!!! My T wears pretty non-descript clothing...for example, I just saw her a few hours ago and have NO IDEA what she was wearing. Maybe I'm just too freaked out there to notice, I don't know. But she does have this one shirt she wears sometimes, it's a HUGE man's shirt with some weird hawaiian type print, but not in bright colors. It is really weird when she wears that shirt, it feels like she's not the same person.
Also, I saw her this past Labor Day and I think I was her only client that day and she was rearranging the furniture in the lobby of her office so she was dressed in sweats and had no eye makeup on, it was weird. She doesn't normally wear makeup that you'd notice but without eyeliner her eyes looked totally different.
