I can't imagine the insurance company having any policy about scheduling. I think your T is misinterpreting something somewhere, especially since your son has a standing appointment. You could call your insurance company and ask.

It took a few weeks or so to work into her schedule, but I requested a set time and day each week so that's what I do. She works late, until 9 or 10 sometimes. My appointment is early in the evening. Sometimes she will call if the person before me cancels to see if I might want to come in earlier, and I'll do that if possible.

I get to see my T usually whenever I need him if he is free. For the trauma work I was seeing him 3x week. But now that I am done with that, I am back to 1x week. My work schedule changed with me being out for disability, so now I have a different time/day for my T. It is kinda strange because I feel like I should still be there during "my" old time. In fact, even T said it felt strange when he removed me from "my" time because it was "mine" for months. But it all works out. T always takes care of me, so it is good.

I have a standing appointment every week...and then group T once a week as well. I like having that security, knowing that I won't miss a week because his schedule got booked up.

The only problem is that I have to take a long late lunch to see him, and it's hard on me to go to T in the middle of the work day. I am so tense at work, always walking on pins and needles, because of my horrible work situation - so it's hard to let my guard down during T - just to put the wall back up right afterwards. And I also need time to process my session afterwards, so I don't go straight back to work - which makes the time away from the office even longer. *sigh*

But, it's been working ok for over a year now....

This sounds really hard! I know its been working for a while for you, but maybe having to go right back to work and knowing you have to pull yourself together after the session contributes to not allowing yourself to be as open with T? Gosh, I think I would sit there and talk about the weather if I had to go back to work after a session!

For my clients - it's a standing appointment.

With my old T - there was no such thing as a standing appointment.

I prefer standing appointments because it's much easier to remember at every Wednesday at 9a is my appointment , then to keep track of appointment cards/dates that change.

I'm a standing appointment kinda person myself. I have seemingly endless meetings at work, and it allows me some regularity.
