Well, I realise this is a fairly widely practiced approach, but wonder if someone can give me some personal insight.
DO we have a social group here to discuss this?
I've seen my T 4 times now, so she has an idea of my head works (Or not, for the matter). Today she asked me if I'd like to explore my emotions and understand and control my feelings.
Sure
So she's given me a kind of "homework" and explained that we will use the CBT approach - it won't be easy. And I guess at times painful.
Would like to discuss this with people, as it makes me a bit anxious, but also glad there's a kinf od action plan...

CBT is hard. It does work though. I think a lot of people don't like it because it isn't warm and fuzzy. I think a good therapist will use lots of different techniques including CBT.

Thanks roseleigh.
I like my T - she's understanding, but not totally warm and fuzzy. But then again, I've never had a close to breakdown or crying session in her rooms, so I'm not sure how she'd handle that then.
But I feel she's good and I am keen to work on this with her.

There is a social group here that discusses DBT, which may be related.

My t is primarily CBT in philosophy although he's never had me do worksheets or that kind of thing. CBT is difficult. It's challenging your thinking and your beliefs. But it has been well worth it.

Thanks Chris

Pachy - I saw the social group DBT, but I wasn't sure how closely related the 2 (CBT and DBT) are?
