I just finished this book, by Kiera Van Gelder. It's new, and I was able to get it at my library so you probably can too.

I just wanted to recommend it, I loved it and I think it could be really interesting to people who aren't borderline and/or are in other types of therapy. It's about the author's struggle with borderline and her experience with DBT.

Just really highly recommend it, I'll be purchasing my own copy soon!

I'm just reading this book now on my iphone (a first!) and I can't stop.
Yes, some things are a little triggering, but it's also about my home turf and being able to imagine myself in those places is kinda cool.

I think it's the first realistic book I would recommend to someone who wants to understand more about Borderline.

my T now has this book on the shelf in her office. One of these days I'm going to tell her I read it and how much I enjoyed it and how meaningful it was to me. I think about that book a lot, even 3 months later. Definitely a keeper! I'll have to get my own copy one day.

I would say it would help with folks going through issues of emotion "instability."

Yes, it does go into her online dating experiences ;-)

I would say though that it might be rough if folks are heavily triggered by reading graphic descriptions of...stuff...

Even though, it has me captured.

I agree, it is kind of triggerish. Even so, I loved it. The online dating thing is interesting. It's common for people with bpd to have a lot of intense relationships. The way she navigates that differently at various stages of her recovery is compelling.

I looked forward to this book coming out for absolutely ages- this was in the days before I discovered PC and I was really hungry for others' experiences of DBT (which to me is what marks the book out from other 'borderline' memoirs), as I was never in a group and don't know anyone IRL who does DBT. When I did get to read it, I had quite mixed feelings about it, but I've hung onto it to have another try- some books improve on a second sitting.

What are the good points I should look out for, zooropa?
