I disagree with their implications of what "insight" is. It's not just knowing you get anxious because your mother left you when you were 4, that's only half; the other half is understanding, in your bones, that you survived, with no one's help and, as a result, can probably do so again so worry (fear for the future which no one can predict) needn't stick around, you can be sad and disappointed that your girlfriend left you but you'll get through it. A therapist that only works on pointing out the first and not the second isn't worth their salt to me.

Cooooool article--thanks !
Mom always said knowing what the illness was was three quarters to a cure. In my 41 years of therapy; I have met with some truly great insights. They do not -and did not make me "happy"--but they help me to see ways of helping myself to a better state of existence. My last therapist must've been biting her elbows; My "what ifs" and shoulda coulda------but she taught me a great deal via CBT. She was -well is --a gem------thanks-----theo ![]() |

being thankful for the "short-cut",, Be Here Now,, and that is all there is,, the past is what we remember it as, not what it really was, so why invest in it ?
