I was so shocked because I was just sitting here reading the forum and my cell rang and it was my T! She called because she was getting ready to leave the office and wanted to check in with me and find out how my appt with my pdoc went this morning. So I told her what I discussed with my pdoc and she asked if I was scared while talking to him, and I told her that I was because of all the bad thoughts I've been having lately and I didn't know what he would do. She asked if I was worried that he might put me in the hospital and I said yes, but he didn't so I'm relieved. She also asked if I've read some of the book she loaned me and I told her I have read some of it, and she said she's looking forward to hearing what I think about it for our appt next Wednesday.

I'm just stunned that she actually called me and it makes me feel good to know that she actually cares!

Ugh, here come the negative thoughts. I wonder if my T was checking because she had hoped that my pdoc would have put me in the hospital. I wonder if she was disappointed and really doesn't want to work with me anymore...

Doubt it--think it's more likely that she cares. You are insecure and manufacturing things in your mind! (I can do this too--that's why I recognize it, lol!) Take it the best way, be happy. She was probably just worried about you and glad you are doing well with outpatient care. I can think of a bunch of reasons she might have called--didn't consider your new thought-up option. She cares, I'm sure.

When you see her, you might tell her how much you appreciated her call. Then ask, casually, if she were worried the pdoc might have put you in the hospital. Then you'll know for sure and can stop worrying.

This was your first reaction - you feel good. That is the real feeling you have. The later negative questioning thoughts are probably just old patterns that are trying to sabotage this uplift you felt.

Hang on to the positive!!!
Thanks for this!

I think it's awesome that your T called you. T thought of you, picked up the phone and called to see how you were and how things went. I think I'd fall over if that ever happened to me!

I know it's way too easy to let those doubts creep their way in....But I think, no matter what, I'd feel warm and fuzzy just at the idea that T would think of me outside of the therapy session and actually call me.

I 100% agree. It's hard for us to hold on to the "good" feelings and so easy to resort to negative thought patterns. I have so been there! It's awesome that she called!

Hang on to the good Dani...she cared enough to call, don't perceive you know that she was thinking anything but good thoughts towards you. T's are direct, if she wanted you hospitalized, believe me she would have made that clear.

It is so awesome that she cared enough to call...that's very cool!!!

Thanks guys, I will try to keep thinking positively that she cared enough to call and that I can't assume what she was thinking so I'll try to keep focusing on the positive.
