Over 8 years ago and the pain is still here. Does the emotional pain of rape ever go away?? I can't believe that it has been so long and I am still working on this with my T. So long ago but it still feels like yesterday...

((((((((((((((((((cats)))))))))))))))))) since we can't undo the past, the memory will be there, and it won't ever be a good one. But you are working hard , and in time it can recede to the point where you are stronger, and as you heal, the present and future will shine more strongly and the past memory will become less large. I don't know if this is clear; but it can happen; I can tell it's beginning to happen with memories that I have... I am finding it is not, after all, impossible to say, that time is OVER; I am here, now.
wishing you peace
Thanks for this!

You have to let the pain out in therapy in order to be able to release it. Talking about the incident intellectually won't work. Really releasing the emotions is what will help you to release it. (Plus you have to work on any of the effects that it had on your life, like if you are more fearful now, etc.)

It will decrease. I promise.
I have problems with stg that happen nearly 20years ago.
Since starting therapy, 4 years ago, I do feel better. For example I can be with my male teachers alone in the same room, shut doors and everything. I am still very nervous but I stay there and sometimes even rememer to answer the question.

If the trauma is adressed and not supressed it will adventually heal. Just hang in there.
Thanks for this!

i'm sorry... maybe you can try to take something from everything you've gone through. Try to think positive, you can't let this cripple you. maybe you're a better, stronger person now after going through all these hardships? And all wounds heal, they just leave scars. you're never going to forget it, but it wont hurt forever.
Thanks for this!
