My Pdoc (who I also do therapy with) is moving to a new office. That would freak me out by itself because I hate when she gets a new lamp.

But the BIG problem is....she is moving into the same building as my last T. I hated my last T.

They will be on different floors but just thinking about walking into the building makes me want to vomit. Not to mention it is bringing up all those old memories.

Out of all the thousands of office buildings in this city. What is the % that Pdoc would pick the same building. Pdoc told me she didn't know that old T worked there.

I do give Pdoc credit for giving me a few months notice to deal with this.

If I end up handling this I swear I will never complain about a new lamp, picture or chair again.

Hey there,

I can relate to how you feel as I felt this way about my mental health department due to having an awful Psyc doctor and a traumatising day I had in that building were I was treated so badly by other members of staff also (long story), I didn't go into the building for a long time and got my mental health worker to visit me at home for this reason, however it came the point I had to go back into the building...it wasn't easy, I felt sick and shakey but I did it and after the first few times it was easier.

Perhaps seeing your new pdoc in this building will give you some positive feelings to attribute to the building so that you dont feel the same way about it. Perhaps try to think of how the building can't hurt you and didnt before either; and your now going into it to see someone you like, the bad memorys of your pdoc cant hurt you now and thankfully you got away from them.

I know it may be tough but perhaps this challenge will have positive effects also.

*hugs*

Thanks for the hugs.

The reason my Pdoc told me with so much time is because she knew I would need to process the feelings for the old T. We have started to do this but I don't know if I will be ready when the time comes.

Maybe I need to go into the building before hand so I will know what to expect when my appointment arrives.

UGH. I'm glad your pdoc gave you some time to process this before it actually happens. I'm hoping it will be a rewarding experience for you. It may help you work through your feelings about oldT which could prove to be awesome. I know that my T would encourage me to address any "unfinished business", to recognize and work through areas where I'm triggered so that they don't hold that kind of power over me.
