I have kinda a random, maybe stupid question, but I figured I'd ask anyway. As I tell others, the only stupid question is the unasked one.

Anyway, I just got a new cell phone, and was adding in the "In Case of Emergency" contacts. I want to put my T's name and number in the list, but I'm not 100% sure I should! My thinking is...no one in my usual emergency contacts knows I'm seeing a therapist. If I should find myself unable to contact people for some reason, and someone else has to use my ICE list, I think I want my T to be notified. But, at the same time, I'm not sure I want a random friend or family member to pick up my phone, hit the ICE app and see my T's name in there....they'd ask about it and I'd be stuck! My solution for right now was to put her name/number in the Medical Info section under the doctors list, and I just flagged her as "other medical professional" I might add a note that she's my T.

What do you guys think about this? Do you have your T on your list of emergency contacts? Does someone know to contact your T for you if something should happen?

i listed my t for emergencies..if for no other reason then that she has my regular dr #...going on the assumption that if all he4ll breaks loose & i am half dead you know they won't be able to find my regular dr's name...& this way someone will be able to relay info.

also...since i have no family it's nice for someone to know where i am if i end up in the hospital etc & am too sick or injured..someone will know that my dogs are alone or whatever...

i don't care if my friends know i see a therapist...probably half of them should or probably do...

if i am that sick & unable to speak for myself i'll take what ever help i can get...it has helped in the past when i was sick..my t helped out by reaching out to friends, dr's etc for me. when you live alone without family..ya gotta rely on what ever help you can get.

Hey,

that's a good question. My phone does not have that type of application. I am guessing if someone was trying to find an emergancy contact on my phone or something they would ring the number under mum or home etc. I have my therapist in my phonebook just under her name just.

Does anyone know that you are seeing a Therapist out of family or close friends? If so would they know that you regularly see her and it would be a good idea to let her know what has happened?

all the best

I already have my best friend listed, who knows how to care for my dogs (we dog sit for each other all the time). I will list my parents, simply for the fact that they should know if something happens to me. However, they really don't know anything about me anymore. My T knows me best right now.

LOL! Yeah. My friends know I'm seeing a therapist, but they don't know her name or contact info. It's more the family that I don't want to know right now.

Friends - yes, my two closest friends, but they don't have my T's contact info or anything. Family...absolutely not. It's an issue I'm not prepared to deal with yet...T and I are working on it.

I suppose it seems like a needless worry, and I can always change my contact list, it's just, I was setting the app up and couldn't really decide what to do.
