Hi all,
I'd been looking online for pdoc reviews when it hit me...why are there no good websites to rate therapists? At least not that I can find. I'd be interested in reading other people's reviews on my current T and former ones, as well. The trouble has been finding a site like this... has anyone any suggestions? I've tried several sites already, including TherapistRatingz.com, and none of them have ratings for Ts in my city...they tend to stick to the Detroit area.

I think in order for you to rate your T, your T has to sign up with certain websites.
My T has signed up for certain websites and you can rate her from these sites. |

Here in the UK, I haven't heard of rating health (or any other) professionals. Some Ts have testimonials on their websites (positive of course!) but other than that I've not come across it. I find it hard to imagine how it would work- some days I would describe my T as the best T in the world, but when she's upset me?... It's probably best I can't rant about her in a way that identifies her
![]() Of course, there will be clients who have 'grown up' relationships with their Ts for whom none of these factors are an issue, but I do think that the T relationship brings out all kinds of complexities we don't generally experience with other professionals. |

HealthGrades.com
I'm on there and I didn't sign up for it... Which is interesting... But not a lot of ratings are usually on there either |

I also have found this problem. When I was looking for a T, I wanted to read ratings before choosing one and never could find any, so I just had to go and try one out without the influence of others. But I would still be interested in reading rating for my T, if I could find somewhere that had them. She's on HealthGrades (I just checked), but she has no ratings yet.

I would be cautious about putting too much weight on any of those ratings. People who rate therapists and doctors often have an axe to grind and don't give a very representative review. It might be more meaningful to ask your PCP if s/he knows of any T's in the area that other patients have had positive experiences with.
Best, EJ |

There was a ratemytherapist.com type site, but it was shut down in the last couple of months because of excessive spam.

The only time I used a therapist rating site, was when I came across a T who royally upset me and was God awful. While I think that's a good thing to forewarn others, I also realize that while I have had awesome T's, I never set out to rate them...

Just a personal experience, like stormy, I went to a bad psychiatrist and then a couple years later found an old checkbook and didn't recognize the name.. so I googled him, and it went to one of those sites where there were about 20 complaints over the past few years about him misdiagnosing people, pushing ritalin/add meds, etc. I was like whoa!!!! And the funny thing is when I was seeing him, he always seemed a little hyper!!! Really makes you wonder. Anyhow sometimes I think it is good to have a feedback system.

Hahah..kind of reminds me of my former (and only) pdoc...he was this little Indian dude who gave me Inderal for my performance anxiety, referring to them as "magic pills"

Hehe, ohhhh boy. Pdocs seem to have a special fascination with magic and other geek stuff. They remind me of those older uncle types that love pulling a quarter out of your ear. Pretty weird bunch. :/
