But earlier in the day I also have an appointment with my shrink who, according to my insurance company has towrite the refferal so I can see the new T. I hope she doesn't make some lame chincy excuse for not writing one. I always dread going to see her as she'll only take care of the meds and lately has been critisizing me on losing nearly 50 pounds and thinks it's because of depression. I understand that they have to look at those things but A. that's all she's said to me in the two years I've been going to see her, B. I only see her for the meds and that's every 2-3 months cause she won't take me any sooner or she'll bi&*% at me for taking up too much of her time(all 10 minutes of it and that's if I'm lucky to even get that much time with super-busy pdoc), C. I am NOT underweight! I went on the Body For Life/Eating For Life program because I needed to lose this weight for health reasons being that diabetes runs in my family and my PCP said that I am in the right weight range for my heigh which is 4'11 AND The Body For Life people want to interview me. Ok. enough said. If I though for one minute that I was THAT underweight, believe me, I'd start eating. Anyway, I think it's time to start searching for a new shrink as well cause life's too short to put up with a nasty rude Bi*&% (sorry, just being honest) who treats me like a second class citizen.

It sounds like there are several reasons that this pdoc isn't the one for you. I'd try to get the referral first. We're not always going to like the dr's that we see. I know that, when I was seeing a p'doc, I didn't care for the first one at all. I went to a second one and he was alright...just alright though. He was inconsistent, then even inappropriate on a few occasions. He was the one who recommended me to therapy. I stopped seeing him shortly after I began talk therapy.

I wish you luck in getting the referral, and finding a new p'doc if that's what you decide to do!

I hope you let us know how it goes.

KD

Glad to hear you got the appt scheduled ! I cannot imagine why a PDoc would not write you a referral - since she does not do therapy. Good luck !

Oh, Believe me Kimmy, I know exactly how alot of pdocs are. I should know with 25 + years of seeing them lol I will certianly let you all know how it all went. My husband said that if she(Pdoc) makes some excuse for not writing this referral which I'll need today, then he'll really let her have it and knowing my husband, it won't be a pretty scene lol. I think that she almost wants to see me suffer. She did mention that she herself is a patient and takes meds.Believe me, Looking for a new pdoc is in my plans. Well, anyway, I'll let ya know what happens..

I sure hope things went well with getting your referral for seeing the T. I sure hope you can find a new pdoc.....the one you have doesn't sound qualified to handle your needs appropriately. Complaining about your healthy weight loss, & taking up too much of her time which she is being paid for anyway.....sounds exactly as you stated "nasty, rude, Bi*&%".

Loosing weight the way you are loosing it is perfectly healthy & something you should be very PROUD of rather than having to defend yourself . At 4'11", it is quite appropriate to even weigh under 100 lbs anyway......there is a calculation that determines the minimum/maximum healthy weight depending on your height......so just tell her to back off on the weight issue because your PCP is handling it along with the Body for Life people (until you can tell her "bye"....& good riddence).

When I first was put under the pdoc I have now (when I was hospitalized 8 years ago), we had a huge fight about meds. He seemed so arogant & not willing to listen to what I had to say about anything. I was amazed at how it worked when the hospital staff required me to discuss my issues with him. We both ended up understanding & respecting each other . Today I wouldn't change him for any other pdoc. He has tried many of the alternative treatments when he realized that I couldn't take the antidepressants & made sure I had a wonderful psychologist before letting me go back to the environment I had been in. But never once did I have to put up with what you have had to......so I really hope that you can find a pdoc that really cares for you.....even though they only deal with meds & ask a few questions about psychological issues, they never should treat you the way she is treating you. Hope the T issue worked out....because therapy along with meds is best & any good pdoc knows that.

Debbie

Well, went to pdoc yesterday and gave her the info on the therapist that I was going to see last night only she didn't send the referral to him when she should've and I wasn't able to see him and had to re-schedule another appointment with him on the 3rd of January. Now I'm going to have to keep on top of this Bi&*# to get that referral faxed to him. He said he would call me if and when the referral was faxed over to him. I knew she would do this!
