Hey all...Im so not used to this idea of having my therapist give me what i realize is very useful homework but I am having such a hard time doing it. Like she wants me write 2-3 ways to be productive and not self-defeating. Sounds easy enough just reading that but my mind goes blank when I sit down to really do it. GRRRR!!! Ugh...I hate this. It shouldnt be this hard...but Im having a really hard time. I cant even figure out where to start. Anyway any ideas on any of this that would be great if not thats ok too.

Well .... to me it looks like you already did something productive with this post so you could write that up; as in, you sought support and input rather than giving up before you started. Homework in progress

I would start by either thinking of 2-3 ways to be productive or 2-3 ways in which I am self defeating and then ways to counter the self-defeating?
Here's some general ideas of self-defeating behavior: http://www.bottomlinesecrets.com/art...ticle_id=14441 I'd take like the first one, procrastination, and counter that with "take 5 minutes working on whatever activity I'm putting off". I still remember a story from my young adulthood of a kid whose mother wouldn't let him play the piano but a few minutes; because he wasn't allowed to, he really wanted to ![]()

One way to be productive and not self-defeating is to do your best with your homework and not say, "It's too hard! I can't do this!"
There! I've done half your homework for you. ![]() |
