So I have therapy tomorrow morning, and today i made a request to my T...

When I was little kid I only have one memory of my mom and dad together. I was about three years old, and we were at a park. My father was holding me, on his shoulders and my mother was walking behind pushing the stroller. We got to a bridge, (there was a lake) and we all stopped. My father took me down off his shoulders and held me upside down over the water. I remember the lake felt like it was an ocean. I was scared to death. I thought for sure he was going to drop me into the water. I remember my mom screaming in the background for him to stop. Then after that it all goes blank. That is the ONLY memory I have of my family as a complete unit.

As it ends up now, my T office is only a few minutes away from that park. I asked him to go for a walk with me to where that memory is. Andddd he said, yes we can. Now I'm really nervous. I used to get really overwhelmed going back to that bridge in the park, so I stopped going back. I think we are going to go tomorrow, and I could definitly use some pocket riders for this adventure.

For sure I'm jumping in! Wow, you're brave to do this, and your T sounds really special to do it with you. What your father did sounds very traumatic. I do want to say, though, that fathers do that sort of thing with their kids. I was always afraid of the daring things my H did with our kids while I was praying in the background. They want to play rough and take chances. He probably didn't realize you'd be scared since he was holding you. I never wanted my kids to climb up the slide by themselves but my H let them. I hope it goes well for you tomorrow. You'll be SAFE with your T beside you!!
Thanks for this!

It was mostly a hard place because it was the only memory I had of my family together. Good or bad it's all I had to go on my entire life.

I'm in I think it's really brave that you asked to do this and I love that your T is willing to go there with you. It sounds like you have a really wonderful therapeutic relationship and I can't think of anyone else I'd want to revisit that place with if I were in your position.
Thanks for this!

A more pressing issue presented itself at like 3am so we had to change our initial plans of going for a walk to deal with the problem. He did say we will do it soon though. Thanks for support though.

So T and I finally ended up taking a walk up to the park where the bridge was today. It went really well. He only let me spend a few minutes on the bridge before we continued walking, and talking. I didn't get overwhelmed with emotions or have a panic attack because he was able to keep me in the present. He kept me totally safe, instead of let me getting lost in my thoughts. It was a good experience.
