I saw a Pdoc one summer while I was home from college. His office was at his house, literally overlooking the ocean. When I sat by his desk, my chair faced a huge plate glass window with a completely unobstructed view of the ocean. It was a truly awesome sight to behold. (Didn't care too much for the Pdoc, but the view was just amazing.)

My T uses 2 rooms. One has a view over the street - I tend to look out of this window a LOT! Or and carpet, or the boring pictures! There is a sort of bed thing with a throw over it, I think this room is also used for other therapies too, although I have had a lie down on occasion. We sit in chairs almost opposite one another about 4-5 feet apart. She sometimes has a collection of shells on the table next to me and a little side light is always on. Don't like the other room, no window to look out of and it's smaller and a bit claustrophobic.
Thanks for this!

Going on my Xmas list NOW!!!

Wooden floor, Ikea rug, leather chairs (his the stereotypical Eames 2-piece recliner, client chair used to be also, until 2 clients (one of whom was me!) flipped over in it - I was laughing, I don't know what the other guy's excuse was) kitty corner on the rug, too far apart for me, so sometimes we sit on the wooden children's chairs side by side facing in opposite directions. Also a bench-couch? ie a gorgeous suede mattress on a wooden platform behind his chair, for Freudians. 2 walls of bookcases, both psych books and his personal interests, and lots of visual interest - one shelf fRont is playdoh figurines by a child client - I often point out which one I'm feeling like that day. A MOMA screwdriver. Rolltop desk in the corner, laptop, books and papers stacked on the radiator. Literally a waste paper basket.
Thanks for this!

My T has a home office that's an extension, so you never have to walk through the house itself. It's done in relaxed Mediterranean decor, except for the hideous fabric covering over the couch. It's a safari print that T insists matches the other stuff because it's the same color scheme, but ewww...

There are two upright chairs that you can never get comfortable in unless you slouch, so we face each other with just enough room between us that we can slouch and stretch our legs without being uncomfortably close. The couch is on his side, so if someone were on it they'd be facing away from him. It's the sterotypical T couch, not a living room one. As much as I hate the cover, it's been a big comfort to me when I panic on him, because concentrating on the patterns helps to calm me down.
Thanks for this!

It's a small room in her house. Two chairs (hers nearest the door), small table with a clock on it, window, ceramic ornaments.

Actually, there is a lot more (including a couch) that I never notice.

My T has a home office that has extra padding under the carpet for movement work.
She has a chair and a couch and tons of pillows. I sit against pillows up against one wall and she sits on the floor across from me sitting with her back up against the couch.
She has paintings and sculptures up as well as plants. The three windows let in lots of sunlight at the time of day I see her.

My T is into moving furniture around on a whim, and the last time she did this, I noticed everything was moved to the opposite wall. So everything was in the same place, just on the other side of the room She has a large desk in one corner...and she's tiny...I can't believe she moved it by herself..., with a small loveseat on the opposite side. A bookshelf to the right of the couch, a chair to the left.

My T's office has 2 chairs about 6 feet apart and a small love seat on the wall , so the chairs would be in front of the love seat. Like a triangle. There is a small table for each of the chairs and a small trash can for (vomit). Really. Then she has a large desk and chair for her computer and paperwork. The windows are covered in white shades that are transparent to light. She has stuffies in a box and 2 book cases. I noticed a fish mobile. This is what I remember after 20 sessions now. We sit on the floor close to each other, but we do not touch. I would like to sit beside her at a table to learn stuff when I am being educated with charts and books and taking tests.
