My T wanted me to write down a list of positive and negative things about myself for our session tomorrow, and having left this 'til the last minute, I'm having a hard time coming up with ANYTHING, even the negatives (which I thought would be super easy!)

So far I have:

+
creative
artistic
genuine
honest
trusting
trustworthy
laid-back
intelligent
witty (sometimes!)
literate

-
indecisive
pessimistic
cynical
procrastinator
lazy
overweight
naive
directionless
clueless
passive
"quiet"
defensive
untidy
irritable
no willpower
boring
pathetic

Okay, so this may be kinda cheating, but has anyone had to write similar things for T? How did you come up with things to write? Or if you really want to help me cheat () is there anything you think I should add to either list?

What I have found, writing this list, is that I just don't feel like I know 'me' anymore. At one time I would have wrote things like 'reliable' or 'self motivated' in the Positives column, but I don't know if I can truly say those things about myself anymore -- with the anxiety and depression, sometimes I'm not in control, and I feel powerless to do what I want/need to do. I didn't fully realise how much I have changed until I came to write this list tonight. Maybe that is what T wanted me to figure out...?

Thoughts?!

Just wanted to share

I would add something like warm or friendly or caring? You have genuine and honest, but nothing that indicates that you value affection, relationships and that you generally have displayed a positive, pleasant demeanor here. If I weren't such a robot myself I would know what words I mean!

Thanks, hankster

I will add 'caring' to the positives list, I think that is true. But whilst I wish to be 'warm' and 'friendly' I feel that these are things I aspire to be, rather than am percieved as being... in real life at least! I can be quite awkward and unsure, quiet and shy (ooh, another negative!) but people can read that as aloof or indifferent...

Cheers again, that helps me!

If you are "overweight", you might also be "cuddly" and "curvaceous".

Are you "loyal" or "generous"?

Good point, CantExplain! I think you're right, in that some things that depend on perspective. I see myself as 'overweight', and see that as a bad thing, but perhaps others do not. Maybe I need to learn to accept myself more.

Loyal, yes. Generous? Well, I'm not selfish... I'd give more if I had more to give, you know?

Thanks for your feedback, I'm still keeping notes on this

Thankyou! This post was from last week, but I did tell T this and we have been/will be talking about it.
