Therapy is hard work. I've worked harder at this that anything I've ever done. If I'd worked this hard on quantum field theory, I swear I would have mastered it by now. I never expect to finish. I never expect to be normal. I've spent 15% of my gross income on it. I have extended my mortgage to pay for it. I've had sleepless nights and tearstained pillows.

I'm glad I did.
Thanks for this!

It IS hard work. And it's mysterious work because there's no textbook to study and no 'right' answers. It's a maze and a puzzle. The work is non-linear and what seems like failure ends up being success. It's slow; it's maddening; it's confusing. It's like trying to push a 10 ton boulder uphill and then learning that that wasn't the homework after all.

The urge to give up is strong. The impossibility of it overwhelms. The 'process' cannot be explained. But still, if we keep going and keep trying we do begin to see progress and we will be glad we did continue.
Thanks for this!

((((((CantExplain)))))))) Yes. It is very hard work. And it does make a dent in the budget. But I agree that it is worth it all.

Like child birth. When my adult children ask me "but didn't it hurt giving birth"? I reply "of course, but the results outweight the pain"

Agree! It involves emotions, which are so unpredictable and so powerful. Understanding things intellectually is a snap compared to understanding emotionally.

I'm tired just from reading this thread .... I need to go lie down for a while
