I like the non-serious sessions! When I accidentally make him laugh, even better. My T is great when he is in a playful mood, wish I saw it more often. Politics can bring out his snarky side, which is how I think his friends must see him.
I like steal-I mean borrowing his books!

I hope you have a casual and warm session! Hard work is exhausting!
Thanks for this!

I hope you tell T exactly this. Calm, connecting sessions are so important. You deserve to rest, connect, and be cared for.

i was thinking along the same lines as tree ... that maybe you could just tell her that's what you need

curious on which books you bought if you want to share at all; or otherwise glad you bought some anyway

I think that "breaks" in therapy that entail just talking or connecting are critical. It sounds like you have an agenda and it has a basis in sound reasoning. I hope you're able to let your therapist know what you need and want! I have to admit that I'm curious about what books you brought! I hope the session is everything you wish it to be!
Thanks for this!

I can share one of the books... It's The Wise Heart: A Guide to the Universal Teachings of Buddhist Psychology by Jack Kornfield. I'm really interested in the psychology aspect of it. Ever since I read Tara Brach's book, Radical Acceptance, I've been wanting to learn more about compassion, especially towards myself - a previously unfamiliar concept.

Good luck in your session on Monday! If I were you I would totally tell T what you want. I felt like I needed to take a break my last session, so I emailed my T the night before. He ALWAYS avoids anything triggering and takes it super light when I ask for it. hopefully all goes well, and you and T have a relaxing connecting session.
Thanks for this!

Wow ... well, there seems to be a consensus.

I did take a therapy vacation, but i was still working hard whilst on the break.

i took a two hour nap yesterday. i hate naps! that's how tired i am!

I will tell my therapist that i want a non-deep session.

thank you, PC peeps - you are the best! i don't know if it would have occured to me to share this want with my therapist otherwise. old habits & beliefs die hard.

You deserve a light session after doing all that hard work the last few sessions. Yeah, make sure you tell her this.
Thanks for this!

i hope the book adds to helping you with that rainbow rose ... having compassion for yourself and i'm glad you are going to let your T know what you want for the next session
