Hi all,
i started seeing a psychologist for depression and self-harm a couple of weeks ago, and i've actually found myself feeling worse since i started going! the thing i do like my T and trust her, but the progress seems so slow i don't know if i'll ever get better and taht makes me feel really frustrated and angry at myself. I'm thinking at maybe going into therapy has made me realize how serious my probs have been ( and still are) and that they might take a while to sort. Did anyone else actually feel worse at the beginning of therapy? I really hope i start feeling better soon!!!

I felt better after my first session, but then felt worse for a few weeks. I think sometimes it can be a good sign...some heavy stuff is being dealt with for the first time and that's going to cause some disturbance. I'd talk to your therapist about this. She may be able to help you give it some perspective. Also, it's probably good that she knows about it.

zombiette,
Give yourself a big pat on the back! Therapy is hard work, and it is a bit of a shock to the system. There is a lot to learn but it is well worth the journey. Things will get easier once you have learnt some good coping strats. And your therapist will help you every step of the way. Thinking of you.
