I know this is controversial.

If it is too controversial for this board, please mods let me know and go ahead and delete.

Years ago therapists used MDMA for therapy, mostly PTSD and sexual abuse cases, as well as some marriage issues.

I have in the past, with the help of a psychologist who advocates this type of usage, used mdma in its pure form in conjunction with therapy.

I found it to be excellent for removing the fear factor in speaking about these things. It almost allows one to veiw the problems without being again hurt by them.

I am wondering who here may have tried, heard of, or knows anything about where this process is with the law right now?

What is MDMA? I'm not familiar with the term, or at least I can't think of it right now.

I do not advocate use of this drug. Bringing MDMA back into therapeutic usage (controversial topic!)

I think any kind of drug that allows one to escape would eliminate fear for a duration? sigh. I think this wasn't a good idea in the first place, and still don't...but what do I know? let us know about the progress.

Its definately not something I would choose.

I prefer learning how to handle my problems for long term and permanently instead of running to what here in this state is considered an illegal drug just to get a short term high type freedom from my problems.

In fact if I want a short term vacation all I have to do is float into my mental musical place - La La Land. One advantage to having DID I don't need drugs, alcohol and medication to get away from my problems. La La Land is always there and theres no need to worry about is it illegal, will my insurance cover it for it is legal and free at the same time..

I also don't see the point of having the short term relief of a few hours and then crash down and most likely more down into a place that would seem like an even deeper pit.

Kind of like drinking the problem away - the problem may be gone while intoxicated but it seems even more of a problem when sober because of the comparison of being drunk.

It may be harder to learn self nurturing and relaxation techniques over taking a pill but the learned skills last a lifetime where as taking a pill only lasts until the body builds up a tollerance, and then the meds dosages need to be readjusted.

I gave up on the medication guinea pig routine of try this and that up this dosage lower that one years ago. And I am having much better results of taking care of my problems, so much so that I haven't needed medication at all for my mental problems for 2-3 years.

that is surprisingly biased to be honest.

keep in mind that I am not advocating taking street ecstacy. I'm talking about bringing it completely back into a medical usage environment.

For those who want some info on it, check out eee.erowid.org, go to plants and drugs, and select MDMA.

Or check out my thread in drug questions "if one was going to take ecstacy with prozac"

Keep in mind that the government often uses fear factor to keep illegal drugs at bay. There are dangers to using it, as there are dangers to any drug, however used correctly and produced in a controlled environment, only a handful of people in a million would die. Basically, less people die from mdma in the UK than do each year of choking on peanuts.

Sadly, because it is so widespread in its abuse, many people have developed fear around it and never truly grow to understand the truth that surrounds this drug. Keep in mind that this drug was used, quite successfully, for many years in therapeutic use and was pretty much only taken off because people began to get high off it (there has been quite a few drugs like this)

Try reading here: Its very informative.

Also keep in mind I am not doing this at the moment myself. I have in the past with very good results, however I do not have the access or the time to the Psychotherapist I was working with before.
