It's always an option. If your T is ANY thing like mine, they will be more than understanding.

I do think they are used to getting them and to having unquitting happen. The one I see does not even pause over it. I think odds are in favor of it being okay Soup Dragon.

And Cantexplain - god help the therapist I see if I am her favorite. The very idea chills me.

Soup! Ruptures, including quitting, are all a part of therapy. You belong here. How many times have I quit? With current T, as many as 20 times in the beginning I think.

Anyone else remember how often they have "quit"?
Thanks for this!

Only three, but they were big ones.

OK, maybe not that big in retrospect.

I've only "quit" twice, but we're only five months into it. My T doesn't skip a beat. He lets me know I can still come in, and then just laughs it off, or says something witty if it gets brought up. He would never give away my appt. I'm way too impulsive and he knows that.

I've never actually quit but I didn't turn up one day - I quit for one day, does that count? My usual appt was still open for me the next week and she was there waiting for me as usual, calm and ready to help me.

So I have temporarily unquit in response to an e-mail from T - guess after 2 years I should give it one more session to see if there is a shift - although the desire to over ride the unquit is pretty strong right now - I think I am fed up with being prodded and poked - I may have difficulties with life, but maybe that is just how I am.
