I read the first page. The title has to catch my eye. I also look for posts by members I tend to "keep up with".
Thanks for this!

I have read it a number of times in this thread that we tend to "keep up with those we know". I wonder how many new people I am missing out on getting to know because I don't read their threads? If I don't recognize the name, I tend not to read the thread unless it really catches my attention. This thread has been an inspiration to me that I need to give others a chance. Who knows? I might just make some new friends!!

One other thing that I noticed is we don't seem to want to read back after the first page or two. With SO many threads posted everyday, a thread that was posted yesterday could end up on page three within 24 hours! Sometimes I do go back more than a few pages. I have found some treasures that got buried with all the new stuff coming in.

If you are reading this and your thread got pushed back to page 3 or 4, etc... and you still need to talk about it, post something in your own thread to bring it back to page one. It may just light a fire! Some don't come in here everyday and they miss alot of threads.
Thanks for this!

I'll read the first page or sometimes two. I usually read all the posts, and can usually empathize or understand with the poster of the thread, but I'm not so good at words, so I don't always make a comment, but I will give a hug when the post touches me.

I might also add that I REALLY appreciate when people stand up for others in some of the posts that seem to carry a harsh feeling about them. Right now, I'm not good at voicing my opinion when it feels like what I say will be shouted down, so I am thankful for those of you that can.
Hugs from:

These days I "subscribe" to threads that interest me and concentrate on those.

But I also scan the "Last Post" column for familiar names. If a friend has posted on a thread it might be worth a look.

I seldom look beyond the third page of threads, because I've already seen (or ignored ) the older threads.

Sometimes if I've been away awhile, I will search certain people's names to be sure I haven't missed something important in their lives. Stopdog would be horrified to hear that I have gotten "attached" to certain people, including her, on the forum. hahahaha. [and note that I used "hahahaha" instead of an emoticon in your honor, stopdog.]

I agree with you all.. And I too have developed an affection for stopdog...and if she's not aware then I'm not working hard enough....lol

I think a social group would be cool...kinda like the couch only for older members?

Edit* pretty bold of me to assume I would be invite to such a social club..sorry

I just look at the first 2 pages and read the ones that interest me. Sometimes if I'm bored ill go back a few more pages. I only usually post if there's something that my T can't answer (ie 99% of questions that I come up with lol).

I also enjoy reading about the therapeutic relationship in america - its spoken a lot in the threads here. It sounds great. I wish we had something like that here. Two sessions in a week??? That is incomprehensible where i live!! And you are allowed to contact them outside of your sessions?? OMG haha. I really wish we had stuff like that here! Ts sound really, really helpful wherever you guys live. I need to move there!

I usually browse the first 1-2 pages and look at every new thread that catches my eye / every thread I've already followed that has new responses.

I definitely think a social group would be great! I was thinking the same thing about "the couch". If a group does get started, I am sure that you would be sent an invitation! Many times groups will start, but the interest wanes. You have to have a strong core group that wants to do it, or it won't last long. Some prefer to come to one place to chat, they don't like to have to go back and forth to other forums.

Two groups that I can think of are "A Third Place" and "Those in Therapy 2.0". I don't think they are that active, but they started out with great intentions and I still think they are a great idea.

Maybe you can put up a poll to see who is interested? I would still love to have a weekly chat set up! I just don't think I am the one to be a leader of something like that.

Maybe we could simply claim an inactive group and move in.

I'm still new to this forum participation. I usually read the first part of a thread and decide then if I want to continue or not. Some days I can come a few time and others I just check before bed, depends of my schedule and mood. I am still unsure of my place and if I can or should answer a post or say hi to people on the couch, which to my surprise I did yesterday!

I glance at the first couple of pages and try to avoid the threads that look triggery to me.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
