Okay so tonight I had a really rough night. I called the suicide hotline and talked to them. I think they are sending cops to monitor the house to make sure I dont do anything harmful. I go to therapy(btw im 15 if that has any effect) and if I tell my therapist that I was legit on the verge of suicide, do you think she would send me to a psychiatric facility? Because I've felt like this all week, today was just the breaking point and I know it will keep getting worse if I dont get help. Thoughts?

Well, I think the more important thing is to be honest with yourself. If you are in danger of harming yourself or thinking about it you should, one, tell your dr, and two be okay with getting treatment, if that means hospitalization than that is okay. You would probably only be in there for a few days and have group therapy which can be helpful. If you talk to your therapist and you both feel like you don't need in care hospitalization they have some really good outpatient care programs that you go to 3-5 times a week and again you meet with a psychiatrist on staff and you have group therapy sessions for a few hours. It is always best to seek help, I know hospitalization is scary, I have been there, but I have never come out the other side not glad that I didn't get the help I needed. Sorry things have been rough, but you aren't alone.

I agree with all of the above. Being in the hospital to stay safe is not the end of the world. Not going when you need to go can be the end of YOUR world.
Had I not gone,(several times ) I wouldn't be here to enjoy my grandaughters which, are my anchors to stay in this world. I would never know how pure an unconditional their love can be. Good luck. |

sounds like you already know you need inpatient care. Be honest with your T, it's the only way T can really help you.

I so sorry that you are in that place. I have been hopitalized on serveral occasions and it did help me get through difficult times. Over the recent week I have had fleeting thoughts of suicide. My therapist did not hospitalize me, but I had to contract to call and allow my support system to be there for me

In Wisconsin, your therapist has an obligation to have you commited to a psyc hospital if they believe that you are likely harm yourself within the next 72 hours.
