Are there strange anecdotes or things your T has been known to say?

Fun thread :P

Mine:

- We'll just bandy about abit.
- If you've normal human anatomy, I don't see how you could (do this exercise) without hurting it.
- The ball... is in your court.
- I'm GENTLY putting the ball back in your court.
- Call me crazy but...

T "But I'm your therapist" = me "so?"

T "Because I care about you" - me "What has that got to do with anything?"

She goes through phases where she says odd stuff like that more and then it eases off.
Thanks for this!

I already shared this in another thread, but it was so funny thought I'd share here:

"You're not crazy. I wouldn't share that [insert dreamwork here] with pdoc, but you're not crazy."

More amusing than strange, and we tend to have this conversation about once a month or so:

Me: So, do you have any brilliant suggestions for XXX?
T: Oh, the pressure to be brilliant!
Me: I'll take not so brilliant suggestions too, I just need some feedback.
T: Well, here's what I think...

On Harry Potter:

me: So.. I saw the last movie.... Underwhelming
T: I know right! I mean, gosh man! He didn't even fix his own wand before he threw away the Elder Wand! Come on!
me: ... Clearly, you took this series seriously... How does it make you feel?
T: Like I'm about to say "Expecto Patronum" to you.
me: *blink blink*

I noted that she has a mirror in her room now (it's an ED place, so mirrors are not clients' friends)

I would give this my vote for one of the strangest. I don't think mine would ever encourage me to hold a hard projectile type object in her presence. Or she shouldn't.

This isn't really strange, but I want to post it anyway. When I sometimes look up at her wall and see the collage I made for her, I say "it's still there" and she answers "yes it's still there". Strangely comforting.

Another example, not what she said but her expression. We were having eye contact (not last session, but some time ago), not talking because I didn't know what to say, and suddenly she smiled but not her normal smile. It was a fake "clown" smile, too big. I didn't say anything until the next session. She told me maybe she was nervous, that she wasn't aware of doing it.

Mine has me hold stuff sometimes because I fidget as a way of avoiding feeling my emotions, so her theory is that if my hands are occupied, I can't fidget, and will have less distraction from the feelings...

Hmm. I realise it might have been a bad idea to post this. I'll think of some other strange thing :-)

One time when she was recovering from a stomach virus and was extremely talkative (like she'd had 5 Red Bulls or 42 cups of coffee):

My God, I really have diarrhea of the mouth today, so I guess I could say I have it coming out of both ends!

My T - "Your marriage is really going down the tubes."

Regarding my ADHD - "Well of course adderall makes you productive. IT'S METHAMPHETAMINE" (loud judgmental voice)

Yes - I quit seeing this therapist

In regards to the Harry Potter conversation, I had a similar one with my old T about Sex and the City. Now every time I watch it, I think of her
