My T had me create a safe place emotionally. Tonight I did a picture of what that looks like for me. I sent it to my Tand he said he loves it :-)

Do you guys have a safe place inside your mind for therapy work?
If so, what does it look like?

I like that, WePow.
T1 did a visualization with me of a place that she had created for me; it really was lovely and just right for me. I have kept it, despite what what happened with her, and modified it. I don't have an external picture of it like you do, but it's like a lush garden with a waterfall and calm pool a little ways from the waterfall. I do go there sometimes as a calming, coping exercise ... so, even though I'm kind of just working with myself (and not a T), that's my safe place.

That's beautiful WePow! I wish I could go there right now and just rest! My "safe place" is a little weird. It is playing board games with H and kids by the fire in the family room. T said a safe place shouldn't have others in it, but when I couldn't come up with anything that made me feel more at peace we left it at that.

(I panic at the thought of being alone anywhere)

So cool you can create a representation of your safe place.

I'm having trouble coming up with a safe place. Does it have to be a real place or can it be imaginary?

I think my safe place would be in an isolated forest, all alone, nothing but wildlife around. Big trees, like redwoods.

Rainbow_Rose - I think you can make it up, I did. Just visualize it. What comes to mind?

I love that safe place of yours WePow

the idea of a safe place is one that got confused for me by therapy; a T I had for a while said that I needed to have one before getting into trauma work and then couldn't help me to find how to create one so we ended up stuck ... I couldn't let myself deserve a safe place

yours looks ... so nice though

So good I had to say it three times! I really like your safe place WePow. I never discussed a safe place with my T, but when the beach used to be open at night and I could go there at all hours of the morning to just stare at the moon, or watch the sun rise. I think a safe place is somewhere you feel at peace, in soul, mind, body and spirit. A good friend from PC left me a picture on my page of what I would consider a wonderful visualization of my safe place. Here it is. and thanks for posting this!

beautiful picture WePow! One of the things i do in therapy is sand play, which is really cool once you get past feeling silly about it, my T has shelves full of little miniature people, animals, buildings, trees, etc. Everything you can imagine. Anyway one time I created this little world in there that was so peaceful and beautiful to me and I use the image of that as my safe place.... I don't have a picture wish I did, but I do go there whenever I need to calm down or just think or just 'be'.
Thanks for this!

I love your safe place!! I don't have one, never really thought of having one. That maybe a good idea to think about for me!!

WePow - that's a lovely place. It looks almost exactly like mine would be if I was visualizing one.

WePow, you are a very talented artist! Your safe place is beautiful.

I don't have a safe place of my own. I'm glad you have one and you rendered it beautifully!

I really like your safe place too! I don't have one and when I read posts about it really wonder how to get one, even imaginery. I dont think T has ever brought it up. I would love to find my safe place especially for when T is not around.
Thanks for this!

It really does help to have that safe place. And yeppers, I do use it for when T is not around.

It is something that belongs to that person on the inside. I do have someone there with me (someone who passed over a long time ago), and I have the image of my T there - he is a dolphin :-) We use it in EMDR to ground, but I tend to try to use it for daily things as well now.

I found a book about this - if the link will work :-)
