my therapist and i are in the middle of trauma work and due to budget cuts those on sliding scales have to be placed into group setting, she told me there is a high possibility that i will be placed in group, we been together for 14 months so i will find out on wed and then i only have 2 sessions left with her

she did tell me once i get insurance i can see her individually and i would be placed in her trauma group, but i was just starting to open up on trauma and to be placed in a group where its open to others to hear its quite unsettling, i am so sad and depressed scared and alone nobody understands except you guys and my t. i really dont know what to do with these feelings i only pray i get my insurance within 2 months.

You're in county mental health too, right? What is UP with these stupid counties lately? UGH. I am so sorry to hear of these changes. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Thanks for this!

Ah, that does sound so sad and worrisome. I am very sorry. I don't know you very well, but I would be really depressed if that happened to me. I used to be poor. Things are better now. But I've been there. And I wish to console you somehow. PM me, if you want.

When I read pbutton's post yesterday, I got pissed. When I read this one, I got angry. Two people utilizing community health centers in this forum finding out they're getting cut the same day. If this is "Mental Health Reform", they can suck it.

As a mental health provider and a mental health client; I am enraged. I could write a long spiel about this, but it will just make me angrier than I already am before I go to bed. I'll make this concise: community mental health reform hurts. It hurts clients and providers alike. People utilizing community mental health centers tend to be the people who need help most.

On the other hand, the insurance companies are f**king the hell out of private practice providers. A T in private practice can charge whatever they want, but the insurance company is only going to give them a set amount of money.

All that said, sweepy, I hope your insurance kicks in and you can still see your T...not in a group setting. That would freak me out too. I don't think I could handle it.

Sweepy, I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. Having to move to a group setting would make me unsettled too. I hope your insurance comes through for you soon. I wish all these people who decide on budget cuts would see the actual effects it has on people.

I am more angry for you than I am for myself. I get why they dropped me. But seriously, being forced into a trauma GROUP? No way.

You don't happen to live in Kansas too, do you? Just curious. Don't feel like you have to answer.

I am so sorry sweepy. This really sucks. I am sure this looks like a great idea on paper. Not so great for the people that it affects.
