I am really sad. My T is leaving the practice in Aug and moving to a new practice too far away for me to drive (I thought about it!) ... so I'm going to have to find another T.

I am sooo bummed. I think I mentioned in prior posts that I have a really hard time trusting and connecting with other women, and she and I were doing great.

I don't mean to sound selfish at all! I think the world of her and am so incredibly happy for her. This is a step up for her. But I am so scared now. I don't know what it going to happen. I am hoping that I will be able to connect with another really good T and I can continue to heal. And in particular, a T that also specializes in my stuff.

After we talked about it yesterday, I told her how happy I was for her - truly - and I was so excited for her...and then I burst out into tears. I said, "I don't know how to do my life (now) without you." We tried to keep it positive. 3 more months together can mean a lot of progress and in July I will start merging and meeting with other T's. Hopefully someone will click and vice-versa.

This is a productive and sad weekend for me.

That's so hard, Rose. I'm glad you still have 3 months.

It's not selfish at all to not want her to move away. It's a loss and you can be happy for her and sad for yourself at the same time.

I had a similar experience last fall - I had a T I loved and he told me in October that he was moving to another state in December. We talked a lot (really, a lot!) about his leaving in the last couple of months. I cried every time, but I was happy for him that he was going where he really wanted to be. I found a T who's even better for me and I hope you do, too!

That is so sad I really can't imagine losing my T... It seems as though you are keeping a postive outlook on the situation and hopefully you will find another T that will fit!

It never seems enough time; I remember when my T said she was retiring in about 18 months to two years and it was upsetting. But the quality of my work really went up as I worked with that time period. I hope you make great strides in the next couple months.

The therapist I had when I moved here to Va. from Fl. was a gem! She was like a friend. We had a lot in common, and had she not been my therapist, we would have been good friends. She retired as well. We were about the same age and I had retired due to my severe arthritis. I cried as well. Change happens though. We had done a lot of work together and I was really feeling very stable and good.. I will never forget this lady. She continues to be a good memory for me!

I know you will miss your T but hopefully then you will be well enough then to let her go and be glad the two of you met!

It is understandable you are sad. My heart really goes out to you.
I know losing your T who you already have a relationship with will be hard, but I believe you will find another T that you can develop a similar relationship with as well.
