How many of you guys wish your male T a happy fathers day? Just curious.
![]() I text T every holiday, but this one felt way different after because the parental transference I have with him. ![]() |

Nope. I don't see him on Sundays obviously, so the occasion doesn't come up. If I were to wish him a happy Father's Day, it would be because he is a father and grandfather many times over, not because I think of him as a father (because I really, really don't). He's a great dad and granddad though. I suspect he will be well taken care of today.

My T is female but on mothers day part of me wanted to but at the same time I felt like it wouldn't be right because she's not my mom and she knows how much I wish she was. I was just worried she wouldn't like it but I think if you know your therapist and are pretty sure they would be fine with wishing them a happy father's day then I would probably do it.

I personally would not text him today. My T is female and when I was in the session a few days before mothers day-I told her to enjoy her mothers day but did not text her the day of just to wish her a good one. That's just me though.

I don't- I don't text/mail him on any other major holiday too but if you do, why not?
So what if he knows you're "secretly" wishing for him to be your dad? I know it might make you feel ashamed (or feel any other not particularly pleasant emotion) but I think transference issues are an important part of therapy and they need to be taken in account and be talked about as a way for you to move on. ![]() |
