I see my psychiatrist once a month and my counselor once a week. Is this how it is supposed to be. Too much? Too little? I realize it is all very personalized but I have noticed that some of ya'll go way more or way less than I do. Can I use the timing as a sign of how "mentally interesting" I am? What do ya'll think?

how often a person sees their therapist and or psychiatrist depends on what that person needs for stability. some times how often a person is seen is also according to what the insurance company is willing to pay for. Some insurances pay for once a week, others pay for twice a month and still others pay for monthly.

My insurance will pay for weekly sessions. I see my therapist twice a month unless I am going through alot of self injury/suicidal stuff. Then I see her weekly.

I do not see a psychiatrist. My family physician prescribes my medication needs when needed and I see him once every 6 months for med checks and / or lack of med checks

I've talked with alot of people online and you seem about "average" as far as seeing them both goes. It may be that the psychiatrist lengthens the amount of time out a bit more after a while of stabalization with meds.

So, as far as we go, you seem pretty normal to me. Normalcy of things

Have a great one.

I see my pdoc every 6 to 8 weeks, In the past it was every 2 weeks, and T visit once a week, as time went on,I made progress, and now just go to pdoc, for med monitoring.
Everyone differs, everyone has different needs for different situations, so there is really no set "normalcy" of how often or how little one sees their pdoc and/or therapists. The main important thing is what you gain or will gain in time from pdoc visit(s) and/or therapy.
I'm wishing you well, and encourage you not to get discouraged, takes awhile but things can and will get better.
Take care,
DE
