I will not be seeing my T for about a month, as I am in Europe w. my parents and then staying at my parent's house for two weeks and then my T will not be there when I get back. It's already been a week, but I am doing OK even though I miss her a lot.
Anyways, in the past I have painted two pictures for my T, like real paintings on canvas with oil paint. I felt like they were kind of representative of my relationshp with her and she always loved them. I never felt like it was innapropriate b/c it was something I made.
A couple days ago, I went to the Freud museum in Vienna (it is the place where he lived and practiced converted into a museum) and bought her a magnet that said "Analyse me" at the gift shop. I want to give it to her, but I don't want her to think it is innapropriate, esp. b/c she knows I have been worried abt. money b/c I don't have a job (I am on vacation with my parents, which is how I am able to go to Europe, but I don't live with them). I don't want her to think I am just randomly buying her presents on vacation, esp. b/c she knows I am stressed about money, and also b/c I did give her those two paintings. So I am a little worried she will think it is innapropriate and I will get into a habit of buying her things or whatever.
But on the other hand, how can I go to the Freud museum and NOT get my T a present? I mean, it just seemed too perfect and made me laugh a little. What do you guys think? I am a little nervous to give it to her.

I think it is fine; unless it is clad in gold it is just a "trinket" that helps you feel connected to her and lets her know you thought of her and the work the two of you are doing, while you were away. Think of how much canvas and oils cost! Those marvelous-sounding paintings probably cost more?

Haha, yes so true! I did spend a lot on the canvas and oil paints, but I guess b/c I made it and didn't buy it I felt like it was OK. But you are right, I had never thought of it like that.

^ Hehe, in the photos they had of him he looked far more imposing and scary than those slippers. My mom went with me and said she would be too scared to tell him anything.

Sounds like a great gift for your T, I don't think it's inappropriate.

Enjoy Europe

Very cool. I've given T 3 pieces of jewelry I've made and she's been very appreciative.

I wouldn't be nervous at all. In fact, I agree completely and I think she'll love it!
