At my last therapy session I was talking with my T about how much trouble I am having integrating the little girl with the adult me. How afraid the little girl is and how her fears feed my anxiety and depression. He then said something that made such a HUGE difference to me. He said, with absolute certainty and with every fiber of his being, that he would not allow anyone, ever again to hurt that little girl. He will protect her from all harm and NO ONE could ever get past him to get to her. The intensity of his statement reached so deeply into me that for the first time in my life I feel protected and that I may be safe - from myself and from all those demons who have been after me for so many years. It is a wonderful thing to know you are safe and that you have someone to protect you physically and mentally from harm. I think that with that protection I will be able to finally integrate her back into me and be a whole person for the first time in my life.
