My T self discloses a lot. I feel like I know him really well. It doesn't get in the way of our therapy. It makes us closer. I had another T and knew little about her, but wasn't interested. I have a PNP and she tells me too much about herself. It isn't more than my T tells me, but more than I want to know about her, because I'm just not that interested in her. I just want her to get on with business! So I think for me, I like to know more about the people I really "click" with. Like if I sat on the bus and there was someone next to me I really hit it off with, I would want to know about their life. If I sat next to a person I found boring and uninteresting and had no rapport with, I would not want to know much at all about them. Ho hum. So I think my T self discloses to me because we are such a good match and like each other and I communicate to him that I want to know him. It's natural for me to act that way. I don't want to pretend I don't want to know him when I do. He senses my interest and provides information. We've been seeing each other for several years, so by this time I know quite a bit about his vacations, his family, his hobbies, his youth, his house, etc. I do not feel obsessed by him or like I have to know more. I am very satisfied knowing what I do about him. I self disclose to him a lot about myself also.

My PCP tends to just sit and chat with me about life during my routine appointments. She discloses a lot but, for some reason, I'm more comfortable with it in that setting. I really like my PCP; she's the one who referred me to my T. I like that she originally had her MSW (before deciding to go to med school)...I feel like she is a little more trained to "get" it, you know?

My t discloses a lot..l i know a ton about her life and her family. The only thing she really keeps pretty quiet about is her husband and his side of the family, because apparently he has ask her to,so she respects that. She even uses a nickname for him. But other than that, her life is pretty much an open book. I appreciate that about her. She is just very real and very human.
