Crying over what would have been my Stepfathers 50th birthday today if he hadnt killed himself. How pathetic.

No, not pathetic. In a word, human. It's natural to miss those who have left us, especially those who have left us by their own choices. And it's completely natural to miss them worst on the day they left us.
I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. And I hope you take some comfort in everyone's replies and hugs to your post.

I understand. It would have been my father's 100th birthday May 12 and I took that day "off" because of the thoughts/memories.

you're not a failure and you're not pathetic. it's perfectly reasonable to be upset about this. any person would be. and even "normal" people would be upset and probably get drunk or something on a day like this.
