Congrats! And I'm proud of you for the huge accomplishment. I hope mine goes as well as yours. I'm currently in the "winding down" stages also.

Huzzah for you!
I smiled at the above. There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to go to therapy and a time to march. . .

Hee, hee. Marching season is serious business in Texas. My son's high school band has won the Texas State Marching Contest three times in a row now which is no small accomplishment. This years is another state contest year (they compete on their level every other year), so they're going for a four-peat, something that has never happened before (and I'm not really counting on it happening this time either -- seems a bit of an impossible feat). But . . . starting today, they put in 11 hour days of rehearsals, much of that on an asphalt parking lot (today's high will be 107). Once school starts, that gets cut way back to 8 hours per week due to state rules. Their first competition is Sept. 29 and they will compete every single Saturday in October culminating in Bands of America SuperRegional Contest in San Antonio the first Saturday in November followed by the state marching competition the following Tuesday, also in San Antonio. Through all of that, we have Friday night football games to go to also. So yes, marching season rules our life from here to there. It's lots of fun, but it leaves no room for anything else. . . . a time to march . . . . GO MARCUS BAND!!!! ![]() |
