well thank u all pocket riders, i had my second session today with new t. I didnt have a panic attack this time but was still nervous, i will see her one more time individually before going into her trauma therapy group i should be getting my insurance in the near future this way i can see her, we are still working on my feelings and closure of my old t, anyway i noticed she had toys and coloring books on the bottom of her bookshelf, i asked why and she told me she sometimes uses it in her office and group sessions because we sometimes forget to be kids or never had a childhood is that strange?

Depends on the therapist; from reading other threads it seems some T's do offer forms of play therapy as part of their sessions so in that sense not so strange. That's great no panic attack this time

I would be encouraged like that. Most Ts talk about childhoid, but few seems to do anything about it!

My T sees teens, adults and couples --no kids--yet he has bunches of toys in his office.
Thanks for this!

My t is certified in sand play therapy, which I have found to be really cool when I play in the sand. She has a sand tray, it's waterproof so you can play with wet sand or dry sand. And she has shelves and shelves and shelves full of little miniature everything you can imagine - that you use to create a "world" in the sand that represents whatever your inner world is at that moment. I have to admit I felt stupid the first time she had me do it, I kept saying that over and over LOL but she kept saying "just go with it. as adults we need to remember how to play." and stuff like that. Anyway I've done I think 8 or 9 sand trays now and I love the process, the last couple times I was giddy as a little kid I swear, dancing between the shelves and the sand.... lol....I even wrote my own analysis of one of the most recent ones. Don't know if your t does sand play, but it's one example of play therapy that I have found very freeing, relaxing and helpful in understanding what's sometimes goin on inside my head.
