Just got done with my horse shoer. My husband called because the client in whose case I made the error wrote to me. My husband read me the letter (luckily before the shoer got here), and I started crying. The client said he was initially really upset but then realized how hard I had worked in his case, and that I was still the best attorney he had ever had (and he's been through the system a lot).

I like this response, but it raises some questions, but they are so elementary, of course I must be wrong. For example, what if she wasn't "modeling", what if she was just saying to you, "this is my opinion, and if it ticks you off, good - maybe i'll finally break thru and you'll finally talk to me like I am another human being in the room. if you don't - oh well, maybe next time. i'm still getting paid, so gotta give it that ol' college try at least once a month." your progress comes in your time, but it's also in her time; she can't abdicate her professional responsibility to you. you can't control who she is, much as you might say you would like to.

She may not have been modelling. I don't care if she was or not. They are supposed to have a reason for everthing they do or say. I will ask her to explain why she does it. I don't know what you mean by the rest of this.

TRIGGER WARNING FOR GROSS LAWYER HUMOR

There was an article in some law publication about a guy who was using a sander belt machine sort of piece of equipment to get himself off on a lunch break and after injuring his privates with the sander belt machine - he tried to cover it up by stapling himself back together. Not surprisingly, this was an unsuccessful health care decision and he ended up with a raging infection and complications. The response from the company was to make everyone leave the building at lunch.

OMG are you kidding me... Now a pencil sharpener I could see but a belt sander? Hence, warning labels.
