My therapist and the psychitncy discharged me from their practice today, All because i asked for more time to get in a dbt group. The group starts at 630, and ends at 8. by time i get home it will be nine, snd it takes me hours to fall asleep, due to leg pain. Even taking a nacotic sleeping pill, my pain jols me wide awake in an hour. Then i start taking otc pills to get at least a few hours sleep before i have to get up from work. I was sent home from work 4 times from mid sept til last week, cuz i transport kids. Thry were afraid of mr getting in accident. My employers saw that i looked tired, was shaking and stumbling. I was threatened to be fired. My therapist knew all that, yet still insisted i atttend this dbt group.

I have been seeing a chiropractor for my leg pain, and hsve appy in early nov at a pain clinic. I asked to wait to start dbt group ehrn my lrg pain and sleep improved. I was told no. i have been on clonapan for several months, was noy givrn any instructions on how to taper off.

My family dr said if i didnt comply with me wilh mental health, she wont see me due to non compliance.

i made a safety plan with therapist today, which was to call crisisline if i needed to. I called crisislineand was treated rudely, he wouldnt even listen to me, kept cutting mr off. So, i wont vall yhrtr sgsin, no matter how suicidsl i feel.

I am wondering if anyone knows any suivide hoylinrd, thst dont jusy send your call back yo your local crisis line?

I don't understand why the T terminated you for not going to DBT. Did you sign something saying you would go if the T worked with you?

Just seems unethical that A T would terminate for that.
Thanks for this!

looks like you got some short straws in life. people treating you rudely, unfairly, and judging you, not taking into consideration the dire straits you lie in.

This sounds like such a hard situation!
In MA where I used to live, they had Samaritans. They seemed like a great organization of volunteers trained to just listen to people's problems. I think they have this in New York.

This is shabby treatment indeed.

I didnt sign anything saying I would go to dbt. Therapist said if i didnt do what they say, then i am in noncompliance and its their right to terminate me. Even though i spent 150,00 to get dbt eval done, and the evaluator told me i wasnt ready yet and yo when i was, my therapist made huge judgement call and said dhe knew if that was the case, i wpuld never go/ Wouldny give me a few weeks to get in yo see pain dr to try to resolve sleep/pain issue.

Now I am very scared, alone and wony call crisisline again. So I have absolutely no one to talk too, And i am worried about when my meds run out. This has given me bad anxiety, and now feel like i have to space them out to save for when i really need them.

Is it too late to change your mind about starting this DBT group? If not, then I say go for it. I know you have all these pain issues, but your mental health is also an issue and needs attention. We all have things that can stop us from doing other things. Your therapist probably sees it as an excuse not to do DBT, and trying to make it all on your terms. Before starting DBT, I was able to make every excuse in the book (and all very legitimate and real reasons not to do it), but the bottom line is there will never be a good time to start and I needed to stop avoiding and just do what it takes. The group is only once a week, right? My therapist threatened termination too, and I felt forced, but it ended up being the best thing I could have done for myself. And it is your decision, after all. No one can make you do what you don't want to do, but they can decide not to treat you if they don't feel they can help any other way. BTW, I also have pain issues that interfere with sleep and actually cause more pain issues...it's a vicious cycle and makes it extremely difficult to function everyday, so I know how incredibly hard it is to make choices around these issues. There is so much at stake (being able to earn a living etc.) But if you are suicidal, you may not be living anyway, so why not give it a try??

Try calling one of the centers listed here:

http://www.contact-usa.org/crisiscenters.html

It doesn't have to be the one closest to your home.

Your Pdoc can't terminate/stop treating just you because you refuse to go to DBT groups- that's unethical. You need your prescription meds- try a new pdoc to get them and if I were you I would think about filling a complaint.
As for the T- it's also bad but not as bad as when an AD's treatment is abruptly stopped. I don't understad why your GP cannot help you- what's wrong with these ppl?
Thanks for this!
