My family have hardcore boundaries. Nobody knows anything about them really, except me and my brother. A lot of things they have as boundaries, other people find just fine, they dont have the same boundary. EG talking about politics, religion or sex is totally out of the question. Yet a lot of people love having talks/debates about these things! Every person has totally different boundaries.
I think "do not like" and "boundaries" are pretty much the same thing. I 'do not like" someone knocking on my door at 6am. So if someone does knock on my door at 6am, I do not answer. Me not answering is the consequence they get for crossing that boundary. I would have told them beforehand about "I do not answer the door before 9am", and they know this, so if they cross that line, then they suffer the consequences. If they did not know, I would just inform them and say "in future, please only come after 9am". |

kazzax - "I do not like" equals boundaries - I think you bring up a very good point. because we teach small children not to let "people" touch them on their "bathing suit parts" - and a predator knows a young child will "like" it regardless of who is doing the touching. ugh, i'm flashing back to all my slimy aunts and uncles "hugging" me hello - just disgusting. We never - as children - had the right (or maybe the gumption) to say "I don't like that" whether we did or not. That's why boundaries are so difficult for us now sometimes.
