When I don't want eye contact, and before when I would want to disassociate (don't do that anymore):
Hey come here. Come back to me. Please. Look at me. |

"Use your words, Chris." (Always reminds me of being very little but it is SO helpful when he says this. I was a delayed speaker; didn't speak at all until I was 4. And then being assaulted as I was at 5 just fed into my "quietness". When I'm feeling overwhelmed in therapy and stop talking, T knows where I've gone and reminds me to "use my words". It is nice to have someone ask to hear what I have to say.)

"what are u thinking..?"
"ah... Now I see." "what do u mean?" "oh, anna..." (not sure what I think about that one because sometimes it a good oh Anna and sometimes it's a caring oh Anna, and sometimes it's a omg what was that for oh Anna. Lol)

This, I think, is one of the most healing aspects of therapy when you've experienced CSA, in my experience.

You know, I've never really noticed the phrases my T uses. I will have to make a mental note to stay more present in the next several sessions to find out! this should be a fun challenge!

Mine said
"I'm curious about...." instead of directly asking a question |

Boy do i HATE "it is what it is." Seems like such a pointless statement.
My T always ends the session by going "anyway, we need to stop." I always know when its coming! She starts winding down and make more general statements about what we were talking about. She likes to say "i just wish i could understand..." When i seem stuck in the same things over and over. Im sure she has more, but cant think of any right now. |
