After the not fast enough thread the other day and thinking about what I could do that might assist me to get a move on with healing outside of therapy; I was thinking about online group therapy. Looking at what was and wasn't available. I know a lot of things take place on PC and what a friend on here (thanks notz! ) helped me realise is part of what I want and was looking for is like a mini version of what we have here. I do know I get overwhelmed at times by large numbers. I started thinking about the social groups here and having an idea of what I'd like to see; I'm not sure how well it will work, lots of unsurety and vagueness mixed in with vision but what I was thinking about is something like this:

The Collective Group Therapy

* Online group support
* Members supporting each other
* Need over 25 members to be viable - invite only and not too many over that number so it isn't overwhelming
* What is shared in the social group forum should not be shared outside (please agree to not reposting anything elsewhere as part of "joining" the social group). Obviously you are free to share your own stuff elsewhere but shouldn't be sharing what others say/do
* Only members of the social group should be reading the contents (not family, friends or your therapist)
* Member directed discussion and working on issues/topics together

Suggested framework

Each member would start and maintain their own "support and discussion" thread
Members should make an effort to respond and support one another
Other threads to be used for specific things members want to work on eg. a book; a quote; an exercise; an issue etc.
Group social thread

The main emphasis is on furthering healing, growing, learning - not staying where we are. Just another way to build on what we already have here at PC and elsewhere

****

I know there are other groups; I know it could be repeating what is here ... just something I've been thinking about and wanted to try and also see who else is interested. Thanks also to a second friend, Antimatter, for the group name suggestion and for letting me run ideas past her as well today and for being onboard and involved with this idea and group

If anyone is interested then feel free to send a pm; and if not that's also more than ok

You've clearly put a lot of thought into what you are looking for and looking to accomplish (and by extension, others will be helped too). I just wanted to say that I think this was very brave to put it out there and that, objectively, I think the way you've proposed to set it up is excellent. That in and of itself is progress indeed. May it be everything that you and others are looking for.
Thanks for this!

I'm in, but don't know that u can call it therapy without a therapist on board. There may be restrictions on that. U may have to call support group

thanks Anne and Kali

Kali I wasn't sure either but named the actual group "support" rather than therapy for that reason

I read what you wrote and understand but fear expectations, otherwise I am interested also. I get overwhelmed easily lately.
