The berries taste a bit sour (not unpleasant, but acidic) so you need to add a bit of sugar when you make jam of it - the jam won't end up sweet like strawberry jam though, it's closer (but not really similar) to cranberry. I'd be willing to bet money that your local IKEA, if there is one, serves meatballs with lingonberry jam.

I've seen lingonberry jam at World Market before, never tried it though. I just might though as I like to try new things. Unfortunately (really unfortunately), my "local" IKEA is 2.5 hours away and takes 3.5 hours to get to!

I've seen that Jam at the Amish market believe it or not... But never thought to try some. However if it taste like cranberry-I won't like it anyway. I hate all things cranberry.

I saw lingonberries on tv. We have a couple of Nordic chefs. My t has a wallhanging with the pony on it that I keep mistaking for a dog.

same here, IKEA is 2.5 hours away, not a fan of cranberry (unless mixed with other juices) ... and Hankster that has to be a very small pony

I love lingonberry! My grandmother used to make crepes with lingonberry and just a little sour cream.

I want to give my therapist some biscotti cookies for Xmas. But I don't know if she will like them. I wonder if she will accept them. The first year I was seeing her she gave me a magnent and a card so I guess if she gave a gift to me before-that she will accept some cookies, right?

Well, I say try it Goes well with oatmeal (though it turns the milk a bit weird), and with meatballs, and with pancakes/crepes, and with fried herring. I have UKnian friends who eat it on bread, which I find peculiar, but they like it.

Well, no, I think it tastes very different from cranberry, I just meant that the jam isn't sweet like raspberry or strawberry, but more tart.

Now I'm craving meatballs and pickled herring. I always liked my Swedish grandmothers meatballs more then my other grandmother who was Italian.

I love meatballs. My nephew rated his dad's a 9 - he said they would have gotten a 10 but you got full and had to stop eating them, that was the only thing wrong with them. He's so clever.

They sell lingonberry at the grocery by my house. third shelf... do not ask why I remember useless trivia like the location of obscure products within the store.

IKEA is either 6 hours or 4 hours for me. I've never gone for that reason. I refuse to drive in Chicago.

15 minutes until I leave. I have butterflies. Did some progressive relaxation this morning that really helped bring down the anxiety levels. Boy am I glad t kind of pushed that lesson a year ago.

((sconnie))

I will have to look for that jam, I love tart jellies. I am a huge fan of beach plum jelly, I put some up every year. I have been to IKEA only because it's on our way to somewhere else (2 hrs from here). When you live on a peninsula everything is on the way to somewhere else. lol.

OK, here's a library. Paris Hilton's home library. Not that impressive, but who knew she could read?

Totally hijacking this thread, but I could do with some company, if you girls and guys don't mind?!

I should have been working 14:00-22:00pm today and earning some moola to spend on Christmas festivities, but instead I'm bumming around at home. I didn't get any sleep last night (this time of year is rough for me and I'm really down and struggling), then I took a rough tumble from the top of the stairs all the way down to the bottom just before lunch… so now I have a nice bump on my head, swollen ankle, and probably some bruises I'm not aware of. Oi vey! Mind if I stretch out a bit and chill on one of the sofas/coaches?

Also - as a side note - I've never had meatballs! Should I be ashamed?

Anybody up for a friendly game of 9 ball? Tournament rules, $2 on the 5 and $5 on the 9, run-outs pay double.
