Some folks on PC have weighted blankets, and speak highly of them.

I have no idea how inpatient staff work or if this would be even possible.
I work inpatient and we do have a couple of rooms that patients can go to and "let loose." They wouldn't be allowed to throw chairs around in one of those rooms because they might hurt themselves, but there is some padding on the wall, and we can bring in a big thick, extra mat and prop it on one wall, and they can punch it or kick it, yell, etc. As long as they are not harming themselves, it is fine. And the other patients are all out in the rest of the unit so are not in danger of getting hurt by the person who is using the room.

This doesn't sound look a good thing to say at all. (I cringe when I read it.) I'm a nurse and have to sometimes give those shots, and saying something unhelpful or stupid or uncaring is the least thing I want to do. It is a very tense situation, I get nervous, and I sure hope I haven't said something stupid that only makes things worse for the patient. I'm trying to think of what I do say and I don't think it is much. I think someone else is telling the patient to hold still. Mostly, I think I am focusing on getting the needle into the right spot on the person's behind (there are bones there too).

@sunrise

most of the nurses i come across seem very tired and "sick of it all" so to speak. like they have a lot work to do. so they seem uncaring a lot but not always. so i wonder.

anyway thank you.

@adel
the type of restraints given using the body is NOT comforting. they may twist your arms back or bring your arms across your chest and grab your hands front behind you or something like that. like a strait jacket without the jacket. its meant to subdue not comfort. ....though i see what ur saying.

Well last year I was on a psych ward for almost 6 weeks, I was allowed to leave the unit during the day. There was one nurse that I had problems with and while I was away from the unit I had gotten hold of something to self harm with.

When I went back on the ward, the unit clerk saw that I had self harmed and informed this particular nurse who angrily said "this is ridicules". Well it sure as hell didn't help make me feel very good about myself. I thought who the hell is she to judge me she does not know who I am or what I am going through.

I felt that this nurse despised me for whatever reason and I dreaded every time I was in her charge. When I was released I did contact patient relations and made a compliant about her.
