Ha! I totally agree. That is my personality in general too. I feel like I try to do that at least once a session, lol! I once said something really funny in the middle of a serious EMDR session...couldn't help it...it is what came to my mind! She laughed and just said something about me being too funny....

My T has told me on about 4 occasions that she thought of me...she hasn't specifically said "missed me," but if I started the termination process, I think that she would say that. I once didn't see her for 3 weeks, and she said that her Mondays weren't as fun or interesting or something like that (i guess round-a-bout T speak for "miss," lol). it made me feel very good and really stuck w me....
Thanks for this!

I recently sent this email one morning
to my therapist: "I feel yucky. Can you hold me?"

She was going to be busy late into the evening, and only had 35-45 minute slots I could come, and she didn't know if I thought it would be enough time. She included this in her response:

"Do remember: whether I hold you in person or not, I hold you in my thoughts and in my heart. "

She did get a cancellation that afternoon, but her email was "enough" that I went onto have a wonderful day.

Two days later I came down with the flu, which I'd never had before.

Tilly may, I'm sorry to hear that. I could have written those very words to describe my T as well. T has been all professional for the most part. That's why I was SO shock to hear her expressing a feeling she had towards me. I knew she cared but I thought it was just in a patient/therapist kind of way until she said "I will miss you too." It's hard to describe, but when I heard those words, how she said it, the tears in her eyes as she said it, and the non verbal gestures she made when she said it - that moment solidified for me that the feelings were mutual.

I do hope that as your relationship with your T grows stronger, you will feel held by it even if those words are not spoken in the room.

Yes, Madame T has said, "I'll miss you, too", and "I love you, too."

Which is very nice, but I always had to say it first. I don't recall her ever offering that spontaneously.

That woman had no initiative. This is something we never saw eye-to-eye about.
