I was nervous about making the call. I've never sought a therapist before. It's probably a very minor matter to most of you, but for me, today was a big day. I even had the opportunity to speak with one of the therapists today. They are going to get back to me tomorrow after a meeting tomorrow where they will try and match me up with an appropriate therapist. Maybe I'll even have my first actual session soon. Excited and a little scared at the same time.

It's not minor at all! Taking the plunge to see a therapist is a brave step.

And having PC as a support to you along the way is another!

Good luck to you, and keep us posted on how things go!

Not minor at all! If I hadn't already known my T (In another capacity) I don;t think I ever could've called to make an appointment- and I need it BIG TIME!

Good for you for having the courage to call!

I think that first step may be one of the most difficult ones. Good work!

This is a big step and not minor at all. I remember it being extremely difficult to make that call. Congrats on taking this step, and I hope you get lined up with a therapist very soon.

Not minor at all. Please don't think that people who are already in therapy think this isn't a big deal - it's quite the opposite, we know what a big deal it is to make that first step. Well done! I hope it goes well for you.

I was beginning to worry a bit. They didn't call back the next day like they said they would. Finally today, though, they called and I have an appointment for next Tuesday.

This is totally new for me. They assigned me to a therapist that has much experience with people dealing with chronic diseases (I have a heart condition). It is one area where I have some issues, maybe mild depression and mild PTSD. Heck, maybe I'll tell her about my alcoholic parents and my recent incidents of anger. I seem to have a number of things bothering me including low self esteem.

This is my first time seeing a therapist. Wonder what that one hour session will be like.

Congrats and give yourself credit!!
Take it slow-it can get overwhelming to take on too much too fast. Writing thoughts down between sessions helps put the flood of emotions somewhere until your next apt, at least it has worked for me

Best wishes!
