Though I have a diagnosis for record's sake, my shrink doesn't really use it and was reluctant and slow to formulate it. That's perhaps because he's an analyst so has a different view.

I pretty much diagnosed myself and then if necessary bring it up. But I like proceeding without the diagnosis so much in the foreground. We can talk without it and resolve things better if we stay close to the whole picture rather than a set of symptoms.
Thanks for this!

Yeah... I agree with you. I can match many symptomps to myself, but that changes not too much. Maybe somehow diagnosis is important for the therapist - he know better what I need the most etc., but on the other hand following the rules can be too rigid sometimes.

Psychologist. And only after I pushed him for it and had misdiagnosed myself.

Why did you care the diagnosis so much?

I had psych testing done by a separate T who didn't know me. It was about 4 hours of testing...exhausting...but it worked out well.

The mental hospital diagnosed me but it was solidified by the day program I was going to. They had me on many pills, and I found a psychiatrist later on who was able to take me off most of the pills. I am on a small dosage for bipolar now, and its very helpful.

I got diagnosed at a hospital for my bpd. but based on my therapist opinions. so basically my therapist diagnosed she just needed the doctor to put the label on me.
