I'm surprised at the low score for group therapy.
Mind you, I've had one good group and one bad group. Maybe good groups are rare and I was lucky.

I chose EMDR, Humanistic, and other. For other, Ego State Therapy really shook things up a lot with me and helped me make big strides. My T combines Ego State Therapy, EMDR, Lifespan Integration, and some others. But my Ego State Therapy sessions were memorable and led to a lot of change and generally changed my outlook about my own Self and my brain too.

Wikid, what makes you nervous about Pranic? I don't know a lot about it, but it sounds rather like Reiki, which I have experienced several times. I must say, I'm a bit of a skeptic about it, but I can't deny the felt experience of it. And I've known a couple of people who have the skill of energy manipulation, and they're people I trust about their perceptions. I think the most difficult aspect of these approaches is finding truly expert practitioners.

I don't personally find the energy work people (reiki, craniosacral, qi gong etc)
to be as threatening, dangerous and adversarial as the psychodynamic, cbt, talking ones. I have never found an energy one (either in practice or in reading books by them) to be as condescending or arrogant as I find a lot of the talking kind. I think all therapists of all ilks are weirdos.

I voted CBT and art because these two have helped me the most also realtiy therapy has really helped me too. Talk works but not for me because I will go on and on and get nowhere..I need my *** kicked by CBT T

I thought CBT was talk therapy, too? As opposed to art therapy, gestalt therapy, etc.

Talk encompasses several of the more specific types and eclectic approaches too I think.

Yea Apt, that's kind of what I thought to. But when I pulled a list of all therapy types it was on it. Maybe since people voted for multiple things, they put cbt and talk, or psycho-dynamic and talk...hmmm.

CBT is a talk therapy but it isn't like a TALK therapy, hmmm, what I mean is it is more focused the t is more in control of what you talk about and it is not very client centered. It is more about changing your thoughts.

Hasn't anyone else seen "A Dangerous Method" in which Sabrina Speilrein (played by Kiera Knightley,) is spanked, by Carl Jung (played by Michael Fastbender.) ?

Yep, some iffy boundaries and transference going on here...

Its actually a pretty good movie on this fascinating period in psychoanalysis, though.
